Reverend Alison Messick-Watkins
A North Carolinian by birth, I made my home in the south until early this summer when I relocated to Sacramento. So far, what I enjoy the most about living in the Sacramento area are the "delta breeze," the American River Parkway Bike Trail, and the proximity to some of the world's most breathtaking places.
I was born into a Presbyterian Church (USA) family, baptized as an infant in a Presbyterian Church (USA) congregation, confirmed at age 13 in the Presbyterian Church (USA), married in a Presbyterian Church (USA), and ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA). I am deeply Presbyterian!
For the past 23 years, I have worked in the specialized ministry of Clinical Pastoral Counseling, most recently in private practice. Being asked to "walk with" folks as they try to find meaning within their pain has been a tremendous privilege.
I am passionate about recycling and repurposing as a way of being a good steward of God's creation. Hiking, knitting, reading, cycling, traveling, and growing flowers are among my interests.
